When we think about landscaping, we tend to think “just keep it maintained.” We don’t think about the ✨ awesome potential ✨ our landscapes hold for growing beautiful, useful plants. 🌳 🍇 So, a huge percentage of private & public land stays fallow and unproductive… and meanwhile, we have a major food insecurity crisis and record heat levels in the Phoenix valley.
What if there was a solution to both, at the same time? What if instead of paying to have the leaves blown out of your rocks every two weeks, your yard could join a network of managed food forests, that not only feed you & your family, but also those in need? What if those yards also helped cool down summer temperatures, leading to more rainfall rather than more drought? 🌧️ 🌱
That solution exists: permaculture landscaping. Permaculture itself stands for “permanent agriculture.” It’s a philosophy that leads to healthier soil, plants, animals, people, and communities. And I started my nonprofit to apply those principles to our yards—think of it like urban gardening, integrated directly into a landscape that HOAs and cities can appreciate.
