I’m actively learning Spanish—finally! I’m using an amazing tutor site called Preply. Here’s my referral link if you’d like 70% off your first lesson:
I started with Vietnamese, Tiếng Việt, because I play soccer with Vietnamese guys, but it’s so incredibly different from French & English that I felt I wasn’t seeing the progress I wanted. I decided that, if I’m going to invest in learning any language, why not start with Spanish? I already know a decent amount, and believe that with discipline I can reach basic fluency within 2-3 months, which will then allow me to practice with Spanish-speaking friends on a weekly basis. Reaching native-level fluency has never felt so possible.
After my second lesson today with my Spanish tutor Iván, the best tutor I’ve yet to experience, he encouraged me to write out my daily routine using reflexive verbs. Here’s what I wrote:
- sandwich pollo, queso, hummus, pimentos, y cibolla
- papas fritas “kettle”
Some of the sentences required a sneak peek at some Google Translations, but for the most part I’m happy to say it came out of my own head! 😋 And I’m sure not all of it is right, but that’s why I’m documenting it.
Final note: If you’re learning a language, check out this amazingly big-brain method:
