Energy levels are paramount.
If you go back to work in the new year, and find that work continues to drain you, beware the death spiral. The ground will never stabilize until the vicious cycle breaks — either by setting strong boundaries with work (extremely hard for people who care about doing well but feel unappreciated) OR by quitting cold-turkey (which is a non-option for most people).
To begin setting boundaries, meditate on these questions:
- How attached is my sense of self-worth to my work? How do I personally feel about my work quality, regardless of what others think?
- When is it truly necessary for me to work more than 40 hours per week? Outside working hours, how much is my work living rent-free in my head?
- What other activities do I consider equally—if not more—important than work? How much time do I allocate to them?

Much of my work with clients begins prior to career exploration, simply by having these discussions together. The conversations alone feel very recharging & motivating! That’s the feedback I get.
We can begin anytime, simply with a conversation. 😊
