There is a cult of ignorance in the United States, and there has always been. The strain of anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that 'my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge.'
Man, I should be doin my thing
But I'm out here tryna get the world to change
Naively, we all know we can't be free, but still, I rebel, peacefully
I repeat, I rebel peacefully,
No need to make a scene, scream cheerfully
And when someone asks what it all means to me, I reply, perhaps a little fiendishly, that I'm
so sick and tired of the boundless praise we've gained for those with worthless days,
We worship the Greys, the colorless fakes best described as not giving a fuck about the rest inside,
Standardized tests decide who gets financial aid provided by the big guy, it's legalized crime...
Make money, make this, rake it all in quick,
Never let another dime slip out of your clenched fist,
Don't ever compromise, and better yet, just close your eyes, ignore the lies,
Here, take some cash, we'll fly you out tonight, I bet a credit card is covered in the first class flight!
Go on, take a bite! Cause at the end of the day, money's everything right?
Right? Wait guys?? Where are you guys going? -oh, ta geule!-hahaha--that guy has more money than you- -yeah!- -he's cute--come on Jacques, let's go meet him!-Oh, come on guys...I thought we were friends...I thought you were MY friends....fine, I'll go buy some new friends.
